NEWS AND BLOG

Keep up to date on all the student travel news you need to know.

There’s nothing worse than being so excited to finally arrive at your destination but then realizing you left something important back home. Despite educators often providing a packing list, this is the reality for many traveling students. To help avoid this happening to any of your students, keep reading for some of the top items the ETI team sees students accidentally leaving at home.

Chargers & Wall Adapters

Phones, tablets, cameras and other electronics are useless with a dead battery! Students often forget their chargers or don’t bring the right wall adapter for international outlets. Encourage them to double-check their bags before you depart!

Deodorant & Toiletries

In the rush of packing, essentials like deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner often get overlooked. Remind students to pack a small toiletry bag with TSA-approved travel-sized items—and don’t forget to ensure caps are tightly closed!

Reusable Water Bottles

Staying hydrated on the road is essential and purchasing bottled water constantly can be expensive and wasteful. By remembering to bring a reusable bottle, students can be properly hydrated while cutting down on plastic waste. Just remind them to make sure it’s empty before airport security!

Umbrella & Ponchos

We’ve all been there and can agree: sudden downpours can really put a damper on a day of sightseeing and fun. Encourage students to remember to pack a compact umbrella or a disposable poncho (which takes up very little luggage space), just in case. It’ll be a lifesaver if the weather turns!

Sunglasses & Sunscreen

Protection from the sun is vital, no matter if your trip takes you to the beach or just around a bustling city. Squinting in the sun isn’t fun—nor is sunburn! Remind students that good pair of sunglasses helps protect your eyes and makes outdoor activities more enjoyable, and that sunscreen is absolutely needed—even on cloudy days.

A Light Jacket or Sweater

Even in warm places like Florida, air-conditioned theaters, buses, and restaurants can get chilly. Emphasize the importance of students packing a lightweight layer so they can stay comfortable, no matter the setting.
