NEWS AND BLOG

Keep up to date on all the student travel news you need to know.

A new year means new adventures, new ambitions and new possibilities for making your student travel dreams come to life! As you take 2025 by storm, consider checking these items off your student travel planning checklist.

DON’T WAIT TO START PLANNING

They say the early bird gets the worm, but we like to believe the early educator gets the trip of a lifetime! The benefits of planning early abound, including a chance at securing the best accommodations, tickets, pricing, etc. Planning early also helps give you time to properly market your trip, in addition to offering students ample time to fundraise if necessary.

PINPOINT YOUR IDEAL OUTCOME

Determine your goals for your trip. Is it a performance-based trip focused on showing off your students’ hard work and enhancing their skills with a clinic or workshop? Is your focus on a specific historic event, STEM or cultural immersion? Are you simply looking for the most fun for your students? A combination of some or all of the above? Whatever your desired outcomes for your trip, communicating what they are now helps ensure you have the best chance of getting everything on your wish list.

INFORM YOUR STAKEHOLDERS

From sponsors, to your school board to the parents of students, you’re going to want to ensure they feel informed every step of the way. Create a plan for how you’ll communicate relevant trip details, when you’ll have open meetings for questions, how the trip itinerary connects to your curriculum, etc. Be sure to keep a running list of questions you get asked so you can be even more prepared for future trips.

DON’T BE SHY—BUILD EXCITEMENT!

Talk about the trip with students and, if a similar trip has been taken in the past, show past photos and videos to give a visual example of what they have to look forward to. You could even hold a contest for designing the trip t-shirt for the class to wear, create a classroom countdown, play some trip-related trivia and more.

This is simply a short list to get you started on your planning journey. Reach out to the ETI team today for help in making your next student travel adventure come to life!
