As a Tour Director at ETI, Shari Babbitt oversees all things “Tour Director” for the team. She’s the direct contact in the ETI office for a plethora of things—assigning trips, booking flights and rooms, handling contracts and paperwork/mailings, just to name a few. Babbitt also oversees the travel protection for all of ETI’s scheduled tours.
Take a moment to get to know a bit more about Shari and what makes her so passionate about student travel!
Where is your favorite destination to visit?
Banff. Absolutely the most unique place in the Canadian Rockies!
What’s your most treasured travel memory?
My most treasured travel memory is taking a month and driving our motorhome from Michigan to Alaska—from spotting whales in Valdez to staying in Denali National Park to horseback riding and watching my children pan for gold!
What’s the best lesson you’ve learned while traveling?
There are many different cultures, but so many similarities, too.
If you were stranded in an airport, what three things would you want with you?
I would need a pillow, phone, and a charger.
What destination on your bucket list do you most want to visit?
Cabo San Lucas!
What’s your favorite activity while traveling, or something you’ve always wanted to try?
Eating, of course! I also love watching the sunset.
What do you love about travel and why do you think it’s such an enriching experience for students?
Travel is a fun and unique way of learning. Nothing takes the place of an experience you have had, or memories you’ve made. Not to mention the people you meet, who teach you firsthand about the destination. You can’t get that in a classroom. Plus, you are never too old to learn—that’s what keeps us young!
